A vision of hope for teens

A place to be housed and to feel safe, with wrap around care for young people who are struggling, whether that's because of being homeless, family breakdowns, mental health issues or addiction. The Christchurch Methodist Mission in partnership with the Youth Hub Christchurch is providing safe accommodation for young people aged 16 to 24 who need immediate housing. Staffed 24/7 each unit has its own single bed, study space and ensuite bathroom with communal areas for relaxing and cooking. With the help of youth development coaches the young tenants are encouraged to work towards a more hopeful future engaging with education, training and employment. Housing Service Manager Rachel Taege says for many of the young people they're housing, this is the first time they've had the opportunity to explore a brighter future.
