Wellbeing education
What a privilege to work with the children and teachers of Banks Avenue school Christchurch and promote their Healthy Heroes programme. The Children got to tell their own story, reporting on why taking charge of your own health and wellbeing matters. They were ably assisted by a cast of helpful cartoon style characters including Clever Kahua, Mealtime Millie, Helpful Hemi and Refreshed Rosie. Supported with fundraising from New Zealand Rotary, the Healthy Heroes programme is a wonderful example of grassroots community action in support of a thriving future for our children and communities.

There are important lessons here for those watching New Zealand's own homegrown platforms which are taxpayer supported through NZ on Air. Whether freeview or payview, what are we actually seeing and why? what are we actually paying for and why? Are we simply paying millions to subsidise commercially fragile kiwi media platforms or are we paying to ensure a future for kiwi made factual content? These questions are particularly relevant as the government considers new funding models for both film and television.
